STAR Literacy Programme adopts a Systematic Teaching Approach to Reading. Combining both the phonetic and the whole language approach, it provides children a fun and enriching journey to learning how to read, write and speak. This set of STAR readers is designed in accordance to the sounds taught to the children, from the basic consonant to blends, diphthongs and digraphs. It also introduces high frequency sight words in each story. Each story is written to rouse the children’s curiosity and eagerness to reach out for the books again.
In this book, we address the issue of fear. Children are usually fearful of seeing doctors. Through Ann’s encounter with the vet, children get to realise that doctors are not all that frightening.
